I'm wondering too what a client could be doing that would be disruptive. Although, as therapists, we might think it's disruptive if a client talks constantly or something like that, we have to keep in mind that it is their session. I find it disruptive when clients leave their cell phones on. I have put a very nicely worded sign up in the cabinet where they leave their clothes and that has solved that problem. Occasionally, a Mom might need to leave the cell phone on in case the babysitter calls about the child who is not feeling well or something like that.
I would certainly find it disruptive if a client were making inappropriate comments or telling distasteful jokes or if they were making sexual gestures of some sort. Disruptive is not the words I would use for that though. And, I would definitely say something.
Hmmm.....I'm curious what sort of disruptive behavior is happening. Please share and perhaps we can help. I'm always interested in learning about other therapist's experience. It helps me be prepared in case something similar ever happens to me. I can be prepared ahead of time.
