I'm a complete novice. I recently enjoyed my first ever aromatherapy massage and have been inspired to want to learn. I'm fascinated browsing on here and would be interested in hearing from you experienced types about the best way to learn.
I'm a mid-forties man ( James ) living in Yorkshire and I'd like to learn basic massage for fun rather than profit. All ideas welcome.

Welcome James,

To start off with you can see if any of your local higher education colleges run massage courses. You can start off with an introductory course first to see how you like it and then take it from there. Some of the intro courses have titles like massage for friends and family.

I started with evening classes on a 6 week massage course and then went on to further study so that I could get qualified. When/if you qualify you could also offer your services as a volunteer. I work full time as a therapist and also a volunteer for a cancer charity.

You may surprise yourself and find that you really want to become a massage therapist.

As Essence99 said it is a great way to see if you like massage, I work for Bedfordshire county Higher Education and run over 4 classes a week for them in different collages they are great fun its a shame you dont live any closer.
