I have seen both. lmi once at the theater,and ltri 13 times. both are very good movies but I give the nod to ltri because of the atmosphere,camera shots,music, and I had a stronger connection to eli and oscar because of the character build and presentation of thomas alfredson over matt reeves direction. lmi was a little better in its pacing. the bullying and killing scens were more intense visually, but in the swedish version it was more pyschological due to a stonger connection and caring about the two kids plight. especially the scene where eli asks oscar "please be me". that was intense.

Haven't seen either but have read about them. The reason the shot you are talking about is there is to show that the vampire was not a girl, but was a boy who had been castrated. What this has to do with anything is not something I know.
