About a year ago, I was in chronic pain. Mostly low back, which is completely unusual for me.
A co-worker suggested that I give this massage therapist a try, she does several different modalities, but after the session she does eft- emotional freedom technique. It involves tapping on different points of the head face and upper torso repeating and having me repeat positive affirmations while tapping. This was a totally new experience for me, she got into the core of my pain, what was stressing my mind at the time when the pain creeped up. I found the work to be very helpful, and was wondering if anyone here has ever tried it. Aside from my friend I do not know of anyone else who has had it.
I have been under tremendous stress at my spa, with the receptionists (one in partlcular). They (she) just keep piling on appointments, booking 2 ninety minute sessions in a row, sometimes 3 stone massages in a day with no clean up time. The boss is in panic mode because of the sluggish economy so she kind of leans on them to book book book, but come on-have some mercy. The one receptionist in particular is an older woman who has multiple health and family issues, and comes flat out saying that we don't know what problems are (this is casual co-worker conversation, she doesn't deal with clients like that-YET), but still her negativity creates tension in the spa. If one of us simply states that we slept the wrong way and woke up with a stiff neck, she will say "oh, you girls are so young to complain about pain, give me a break I had 3 kids by the time I was 23" to me, that just puts a damper on the casual conversation. I have a eft session scheduled and I am truly looking forward to it. It will bring me back, I can not give if I feel depleted, and I am feeling the strain, and unfortunately so are two of the other therapists. I believe in the work, and hope you guys will give it a try if you already haven't!
