Okay, I am just finishing up my intern hours and I have noticed a couple of times that after a day of working on folks..sometimes I am unwittingly bringing stuff home with me.
Yesterday, I worked 4.5 hours out of the 5.5 hours I was there. I had a client whose mother just passed away and another client who talked pretty in depth about how all of her family is dead and it's hard for her during the holidays. I had little to no time in between sessions to shake anything off, or stretch. At times, I had to rush to use the restroom while clients were getting ready for the session.
I felt a little drained at the end of the day, but nothing out of the norm....but at dinner a couple of hours later, I noticed that my whole left shoulder started to seize up and when I got home, all I could do was go to bed from exhaustion. When I woke up, I watched a movie and found tears streaming from my eyes for no reason at all...and was pretty cognizant that they weren't from me at all.
What do you all do to prevent this from happening? I will probably only have one more day like this in clinic and then I will apply for examinations. But, I really don't want another day like this outside of clinic, if you know what I mean!!
Thanks!
