Grappa Live (bar) in Santa Ana.... who's been?

Orange.... here's the bar I was referring to in the other thread about intimate/romantic restaurants/bars. It was mentioned back in Feb 07. Anybody know this place?

I go there all the time. There is usually a cover charge of $3 or so and live music. In terms of quality - atmosphere and music - it makes Jazz Cafe look like a joke.

Its a good crowd. Its mostly high class ticos and some gringos. The food is pretty good. Big food and drink menu. There is also a dress code.. no hats, flip flops or torn-up jeans. If you bring a chica there and she is obviously a hooker, she will probably not be allowed in.

If you want to sit at a table on a busy night, you need to call in and get a reservation.

Yeah, i've been to Grappa's a few times. Good music, and decent atmo. Lots of hot chica's too

I was there twice, playing in a group (not my own group, we're too abrasive). The place is quite nice and there are lots of upscale ticos and ticas there. I found myself yearning for one of the San Jose dives after a while, since none of the beautiful women there would look in my direction. Rich ticas don't need old gringos. But it's a nice place.

Love that bar, great food and one of the few places that can mix a real mean dirty martini.

As for a venue for live music, the shape of it is kinda strange and only 4-5 tables can see the stage. I've seen the Tortugas there a couple of times and I will go again. Costa Rica needs more higher end lounges like this...
