I'm not disagreeing with your thoughts, and the bit about how Americans socialise was informative.
In the interest of a balanced article it would have been more accurate to just say "horny farangs" although as you say others are more obvious due to their higher numbers.
As for not being aware of the behaviour of Aussies, (this is where i duck) i think their own countrymen have said it all in their postings.

My g/f was propositioned in our hotel louge by an arab type guy when I was at reception getting my camera. She was very indignant and told him she was with her b/f and pointed me out to him - he then beat a very hasty retreat apparently (I didn't see this happen I might add and was told after).
My g/f said "why farangs always think all Thai ladies for sale", to which I said "probably because most are darling".
I do agree that this is not an isolated case by any means but personally if the girl is not in a bar or gogo then I feel the guys should leave well alone, unless ofcourse they get the 'come on' from them.

In relation to us Aussies we are a mixed bag... like most I guess. I have seen appalling behavior by my countrymen all over the world. I just hate the Aussie Aussie Aussie crap and that fact that for many jumping on a plane for a holiday anywhere is like a ticket to be a complete ASS! I find that pretty much all Australians living abroad are good and take genuine interest in the culture of the adopted country and mix very well with locals and expats alike. It's just that so many of the tourists act like it is their first time out of the nut house. The worst I have seen in Thailand was one guy and his girlfriend posing for pictures with a begger while he slept on the street. To say they least what they were doing was disgusting. When I told the guy to stop and get lost his reply was hey mate... I'm an Aussie! WTF!!! I made it clear that I was also however he and his girlfriend where scum of the earth and it didn't matter where they came from.

Hey George. The question that I posed was more in relation to the shear frequency of this happening. I can handle the odd incident and have in the past. But it just seems to happen so much. I handle things pretty well and after a couple of words at times with the perpetrator my main focus is to settle my lady and move on with a good night. The other thing is I don't see Patong as one big ***** house. There are a lot of families, couples and children here. I am not a frequenter of ***** houses anywhere however I would hazard a guess that you don't find many families out for a meal and ice-cream in them. Cheers.

Hello all... is it just me or are thoughtless sleeziods on the increase in Patong? And yes I know you will say "it is Patong you knob" however it is like this.... Of late the number of Farang trying to have a free feel or simply grab my girl is out of control. I do have a Thai lady that I and many others would say is in the top percentile looks and body wise however she dresses relatively conservative when we go out on the town.

It just shocks me how many guys simply grab her or try for a free feel in the disco's or simply on the street. Like most Thai ladies she is a feisty one and makes it very clear that it is not welcome however last night alone it happened 4 times in separate locations and I really do fear she is going to crack more then she already does. I also make it clear to whomever it may be that they are out of line and not all ladies in the LOS are part of a meat buffet but I come out for a good night not sparring practice. If I am not literally holding her hand or another part of her body at the time it is like she is fair game. And no she doesn't work bar so they are not past customers or anything like that she is my girlfriend of 6 months and lives with me in Phuket.

Now I know that if she goes to the Police and makes a complaint on the free feel issue the Farang is in it deep and given that she and I have a good rep with the local cops this would not be a hard thing to do but the number of guys doing this is just insane. Soon I am going to be on the lookout for hairy guys with clubs trying to drag her back their cave! Your thought please peoples.

Okay so I've only lived here 2 years, but I've been out quite a lot and with differing combinations of friends, gf's etc, I have never witnessed an open groping at any time. I've seen the odd girl get a pat or arm touched as she is passing through a soi, I've seen girls be approached or chatted up, with the guys apologising when they found out she was with someone else. I've seen a few times when a guy has definately tried to chat a girl up that was alreadfy bf'd or with someone else. But NEVER, in open spaces and as blatantly as the OP has described is a regular feature for his girl.

I asked Hobbo, if this happens to his gf often, he has said no, but she does get some remarks. She is very attractive, young, great figure, so why not her if the OP's girl is getting it happen so regularly?.

Got me thinking about how they say a rape victim is someone that gives off some unknown signal, or action that triggers the rapist to pick her out as his victim, not condoning this statement, just putting it up there for a minute. Could this be a similar case with the OP's girl? yep I know this will anger him, I'm not posting this for that reason, just making a question. Is it some how she subconciously acts? dresses, moves, or where they go?

How about the other way round, when we get groped, grabbed in certain places, is this okay behaviour? could we take them to court and charge them with sexual assault? But it does give us some understanding of how disgusting it feels like for the same situation, reversed for a girl.

I've not witnessed this behaviour from drunken falang, so can only guess how frequent or how I would behave, if it happened to me and my gf. I imagined at first when reading this thread it was more a case of a little pat or touch as a girl sqeezed through a gap of people to get to a bar. Still not condoned but sort of slightly understood. Now I'm just confused why anyone anywhere would think it was okay to grab a girls breast etc in a parking lot??

Do these people do this to your gf flhai, with no initial dialogue? please do not think I am suggesting she causes it in anyway, as I cannot get my head round why,how they think this behaviour is okay???

I guess you are in an unfortunate situation.
Personally I find groping a tasteless first advance anywhere, however, in entertainment venues such as Bangla and the sois it is a common second, third or fourth step ... for me too.
In this type of situation you will always have some that either lack a little respect or is drunk who will make advances inappropriately like that.
In all fairness in places like Bangla it is to expected that some form of advancement may be made, so why not relax a little ... expect it (right or wrong) and discard it the best you can.

i even get pissed off if someone gropes my barfine, it shows a lack of respect to you and the girl.

i think you and your gf should use the coppers and put in the charges of "dirty farang groper touches girl" teach them a lesson, put them in the newspaper.

the farang might get a few more repercussions than he thinks, criminal conviction, record as s*x offender in his own country etc.

yes a couple of wasted hours in the police station, but the financial compensation might pay for something new for the house.

can only speak for my wife but i asked her what she would do if it happened, "call family" is all she said.

in some ways i can understand some farangs "going the grope", when all they have experienced of thailand is a hitherto unseen mass of available women, but lack the knowledge to know who is taken or under someones arm

I agree with you Bernie (as I do on most issues!) maybe the problem with the girls in the beer Sois and go-gos is that they have experienced this so much from Falangs they consider it to be within the bounds of normal behaviour. The guys here for a few days find it amusing, I would suggest the long termers don't. We have become the 'victims' of our own ( and I mean on a collective, not personal basis) behaviour and actions.

I do accept it to a point right or wrong however it is just the frequency. At times my girl has only just cooled down after her last attempted groping when another guy comes along for a shot. I know it is the norm after some interest has been shown on the ladies part and I don’t have any issue with that it’s just that if you make a verbal attempt with her she will politely say no thank you. I am lucky to have a great girl and love me nights out….. just puts a bit of a negative shade on things if it happens too much.

It prob depends on lots of different factors, like you say.

I have only really seen it happen under Tiger often. But then it may depend on what bar your in. Body language. dress, or even something as variable as were in a bar you and your gf sit on average.

That's just it... she has not solicited it in any way. And I know that in Thailand for doing that in bangla, phuket or any place else in the LOS the Farang and be in a world of s*%#! I am kind of split on the issue but I guess if it happened in Australia or anywhere else for that matter I would make an issue of it so why should I just put up with it because for many girls in Patong it is ok.
