A former longtime employee of Massage Envy filed suit last week against the corporation, a franchise in Dallas and a masseuse for alleged sexual assault during an appointment at the Uptown location and for failing to follow internal discipline policies.
The plaintiff, identified in the lawsuit at R.Q., said fellow masseuse Tarence Harrison disregarded her requests not to work on her legs, reached into her underwear to massage her butt after she asked him to stop, and consistently failed to drape sheets correctly to ensure she was appropriately covered.

Harrison did not respond to a Monday phone call or text message requesting comment on this lawsuit.

R.Q. said after she reported this incident to management, Harrison was assigned additional training on draping instead of firing him. The complaint says Massage Envyโs โzero toleranceโ policies require firing employees and listing them as โnot eligible for rehireโ after the alleged offenses.

The complaint also says this was Harrisonโs third draping training, which they said indicates that there had been previous issues with other customers.
After R.Q. raised concerns to upper management of Trinity Health Spa, the local franchisee, and said she planned to report the incident to a licensing board, an investigation into Harrison was opened and he was subsequently fired. R.Q.โs suit asks for compensation for the mental anguish, emotional distress and psychological trauma caused by the incident.

โRather than terminating the therapist, this franchisee allowed him to continue working, having access to other women,โ Anna Greenberg, R.Q.โs attorney, said in a statement. โIt makes you wonder how often this happens.โ
The suit also alleges a pattern of behavior by Massage Envy nationally that fails to properly enforce the companyโs own policies.
Online court records did not yet show an attorney listed for any of the three defendants.
