I'm looking into training at Memorial Hermann Wellness Center, but I visited and they said that they are not eligible for financial aid (FAFSA). Call me silly, but for some reason I thought that they probably would be eligible. Should I expect the same of all massage therapy schools? Lack of financial aid kind of makes the option of becoming a MT impossible for me. Is there anything else that I could turn to? Any associations that might offer scholarships/loans for massage therapy students? Or am I on my own?

Many massage schools are eligible for federal financial aid! Just keep checking into schools. I believe all COMTA approved schools meet the requirements for aid.

I received both federal loans and a pell grant when I registered for massage school. Had I not, I wouldn't have been able to go either.

What area are you in? Maybe someone can give you recommendations what schools to look at?

Should I expect the same of all massage therapy schools?

In Houston/surrounding, yes, I believe so.

This in mainly because most of the Texas schools don't have the increased hours that financial aid provides for (at least last time I checked).

If you find a school in Houston/surrounding that does provide financial aide, please post it, so that other students like yourself will have the info.

Some schools in the area will let you pay in installments, and not give you your "diploma" until you have paid off the fee. Something to look into if you are on a tight budget.

I received student loans while attending Northwestern Health Sciences University (http://www.nwhealth.edu). I also received a United States Grant for $400, basically just because some extra money was available - the paperwork took about 15 minutes.

If a school isn't eligible for student loans, don't worry. There are plenty of other schools that ARE eligible, so you'll find a way to realize your dream!
