Extralite Massage Couch

Hi all, new to this site.
Does anyone know anything about the Extralite Massage couch - very light (10kg) with backrest! I need something portable and want to know if this is a good buy? Any reviews out there? Thanks guys.

That is a good price and weight. It could be a good starting massage couch for you. My only concern is the face hole, as I prefer it at the end of the couch so I can adjust it for clients. Also the width at 24 inches is not very wide.

It's way too narrow for majority of therapies. Try and go for 28" wide couch unless your closer to 5' tall when it can be ok to go for narrower couches (even though you are compromising on client comfort) so as not to jeaopardise your own back over your career.

I'm pondering about weights of couches too. I was thinking about getting the most lightweight one I could and then my DH queried whether they would be stable enough. Now I'm confused. There is one at 12 kg and the only difference I can see is that has a flip back. I'm tempted by a 10kg aluminium-type one as well, without a flip back.

What do people think?

But if you do your back in trying to lift a big heavy couch out of your car you've done your career in anyway! I'd say - from personal experience - get a couch you can lift. Remember 10kg works out at 22 pounds, equivalent to lifting a 2 year old. 15kg works out at 33 pounds, which is more like a 3 year old. Plus the couch is a great deal bigger than a toddler and much, much less manoeuvrable!

I've looked at the Alulite couch, and it comes with arm rests which makes the width bigger. The Starlight couches are wonderful, but they're soooo expensive - I mean 7 times as much as the Alulite!

But Chris you can get a 28" couch with 10-11kg. There is a right table out there for everyone.

And if a table has side arm rests, the quoted weight of the couch will not include the weight of the side arm rests. so its a contradiction to go for a lighter couch which is narrower but has side arm rests, because the quoted weight will be excluding the arm rests. So you will be getting a heavier couch that is narrower!

Well the only 28" table I've seen weighing anything like 10 lb is one of the Starlight ones costing about £700 - and that's not the right table for me!

I've taken all the attachments out of my table, and I'm not sure they make a whole lot of difference - maybe 1kg if that.

The advice remains: make sure you can lift the table. Or book in at the gym to strengthen your shoulders because you'll need arms like Mr Universe!

we were talking 10-11kg, now you've switched to 10lbs!! that is 4.5kg. I am not surprised its £700.

I got my table for £250 and it is just under 11kg. Anything under 14kg should be ok for mobile work but the lighter the better as long as you stick to normal length and width. that's the only point i'm trying to make, don't sacrifice width or length of table for the weight because you can get a table that has everything.
