Draping - book/dvd recommendations

Hi

Just wondering if anybody can recommend any good books or dvd's that show good draping techniques?

On my VTCT massage course we are told to use two large towels and one small one for the modesty towel. I'm just wondering if there are any other/better techniques that I can put in to practice when I've finished the course. The one thing that really annoys me at the momentis the modesty towel. It gets in the way and when the client turns over it doesn't turn with them. Grrr...

I have read the other threads regarding draping and am thinkingthat I'll get on better using a sheet but just want to see the technique in action really!

Hi Sarah Louise,

I was taught (ITEC)to just use one large massage towel (sheet), these are a very large towels and you get ample ammount of coverage, evenin with clients a biton the large side.
We have to tuck the towel neatlyl into under wear for doing back, and again for legs, (accept on the front, as this could be awkward) this way thetowel doesnt get in the way of your massage. I have always used this towel draping method, and I always get on well doing it this way.
In my opinion I wouldnt think it necessary to buya DVD or bookfor this draping method.
Have a practice with one of these large massage sheets and see how you get on.

Will have a go at that. I think I'll get on much better that way, especially when the client turns over.

Hi Sarah

There are some pictures in a book called 'clinical massage by James H Clay.' This book is exellent in my opinion, but it is a little expensive, so rather than buying it, perhaps you could see if your local library has it or if they can get it for you. I did this but found the book so full of great pictures and info that I purchased my own copy.

Couldnt agree more Reikime. Basic Clinical Massage is worth every penny as far as I am concerned. I also borrowed it from my library to see if it was a book I would use and was convinced immediately. I generally request books that I think I may be interested in from the library first before I decide to buy and it has proved a very useful way of finding out before purchasing.

Going to a quick look on amazon and e-bay to see if I can get a bargain on that book - can't get to the library at the moment but I reckon I can trust your judgement!!!! Will also have a look at those dvd's too.
