I went to visit friends at home, and the husband introduced me to the cleaning woman who was working in the kitchen. She was wiping down a kitchen counter with some solution of something in a bucket and not wearing gloves. I thought the introduction part was strange, then she put out her hand without drying it off. I can't blame her for being flustered. I think the whole thing was just eccentric on the part of my friend's husband. I had not asked for a referal to his cleaning service.
Had she been wearing gloves I might have be quick witted enough to say "don't take off your gloves. I'm pleased to meet you" to get out of shaking hands.
Is this some super democratic American thing people do now, or is my friend's husband just weird?
