Diploma in Body Massage

Hello there,

Justa quick question to all you more experienced HP'ers!I'm going to be starting a VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Body Massage soon and eventually want to do IHM, Reflexology, Sports Massage (possibly), Ear Candling and Aromatherapy massage. In my local college prospectus it has a course which is new to the college which is a Level 3 Diploma in Body Massage.

The course guide says the following will be covered:

The application of body massage using advanced techniques and adapting the sequence and routine. You will understand the principles and procedures of shiatsu/accupressure, lymphatic drainage, neuromuscular massage and correct postural defects.

This sounds pretty good to me. What do you guys think? Has anyone done this course? Would it be better for me to do this course before any of the others, bearing in mind I want to set up my own mobile/home based business starting off with Body Massage.

Hi Sarah

I am qualified in Level 3 Swedish Massage and it is a pre-requisite of IHM and Aromatherapy to have the Body Massage certificate first as this includes Anatomy& Physiology.

I thoroughly enjoyed my course and would recommend it to anyone but it is a lot of hard work. We learne the basics of lymphatic drainage (some basic movements) and were given a handout on advising exercises for postural defaults.

You also have to carry out assessments on clients - which is part of the practical examination and take a Health & Safety examination - although this may vary nationwide.

I am in the throws of setting up my home business, and should be up and running by September.
