Hi all
I'm moving my pratice soon & I'm thinking of promoting myself more as a deep tissue/muscle therapist rather than what we call a 'Remedial Massage' therapist here in Australia.
My reasoning is that I specialise more in deep tissue/rehab/ pain relief etc & I don't want to attract a clientele wanting relaxation/fluff n' buff work. Also, I want to make it known that I don't offer sexual services without having to write "non sexual" in my ad like some other remedial MT's advertising I've seen in my area.
Please give your opinions as if you were a consumer on what the title 'Deep Tissue Therapy' means to you.....Here's something to get you going.
What sort of work would you be expecting?
Would it involve multiple techniques ie, TP work, NMT, MFR etc or just flowing deep pressure?
Would it equate to PAIN & limited relaxation, therefore discourage you from having a treatment??
Would it appeal to you more if you believed in the theory 'No Pain No Gain'?
Would you expect the treatment to be more outcome/results based or would you approach it as a pamper/feel good session where the therapist did all the work & gave you relief?
All feedback welcome. I will be starting my business in a small city that is pretty well saturated with the standard 'remedial massage therapist' so I want to set myself apart (sorry if it sounds egotistical).
For example, last year I went to a guy that specialises in Deep Muscle Therapy-(tendon & ligament release) & he actually said to me that he tells people if they want the 'standard massage' offered around there's 50 other therapists in the area that will do it because he won't !!!! A bit arrogant I thought & I don't want to go to that extreme.
Cheers
Oz
