Daft question about letters after names...

Hi

I know someone knows the answer to this question - just not me!!!

I have recently qualified in ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage. What letters can I now use after my name? I've been to the ITEC website and there is no information there and I'm not sure where else to look!

Hello Eagle - congrats on your qualification!

The letters you can use are simply ITEC ! You can also then add the abbreviations of any professional body you belong to, eg MCThA (member of Complementary Therapists Association) or whatever.

There has been a thread on this previously if you would like to do a search - cant remember when it was, some time ago.

Thanks for your reply. I did look to see if there had already been a thread on this and didn't come up with anything.

I had thought that our tutor had mentioned some more specific letters relating to the qualification - however this was right at the beginning of the course and it was never mentioned again! 'ITEC' keeps it quite simple though.

When I qualified (admittedly in the last century) I was told that we should use 'ITEC Dip'. But I have doubts about Chid's use of 'MA.' to signify 'massage'. MA is the standard abbreviation for a type of university degree, and it is just possible that using it may lead to complaints that a practitioner is portraying themselves to the public as a university graduate when they aren't. If anyone wants to add a reference to 'massage' after 'ITEC Dip', I think that they should spell 'massage' out in full, rather than use Chid's abbreviation.
