Culinary oil Vs Massage oil!

I wonder if anyone here knows if there is a difference between grapeseed oil in the supermarket or grapeseed oil for massage?

Where I live (miles from civilisation) there is a BIG price difference - and the grapeseed oil comes in glass bottles which is more ethically sound compared to the plastic of the massage oils....

Just curious - the supermarket oil is about 1/4 of the price - is this down to volume of sales or is there a difference in quality?

I would use the culinary from the supermarket, you can get cold pressed which is a little more expensive but does not feel any different on the skin, if its good enough to eat then it is more than good enough to work as a lubricant outside of the body.

When I used oils I put 10% grapeseed oil into 90% Soya oil and that worked well for me.

Its the same stuff is the short answer. Both are refined and both come from the same places. Like many supermarket products vegetable oils are often used as low margin items to entice trade. Its fact that the supermarkets pay the refiners less for a product ready bottled and labelled in a 1 litre bottles than we can buy 10,000 litres for in bulk ! Thats the power of the supermarkets and the power long term contracts hold. Grapeseed prices are high in the trade at present due to shortages so this may slowly be filtering thru to the supermarket shelf too.

Is mantra aromatherapy your website? I was looking there and considering making essential oil purchases when I start my aromatherapy course - can't start it till at least the end of this month.

Although I am afraid I will probably buy my grapeseed oil from the supermarket....

culinary oil has an expiration date. Does it need to be stuck to when using it as a massage oil?

If you go past the sell by date, then it often starts to oxidate and smell, better to get it with as long a shelve life as possible.
