Creating an aromatherapy stall

Has anyone set up a stall as an Aromatherapist at a trade show or church? If so, I would be interested in learning what you did during the day and what interested the attendees.

Did you for example give a hand massage or face massage? If so, did you do an assessment first to ensure no contraindications? Did you demonstrate making a simple cosmetic blend (e.g. a face mask)? Did you sell any products that you had the necessary safety aprovals for?

The reason I am asking is that my local church has asked me to participate in a Therapist's "open day" to raise some funds for the church.It's my first event like this.

What a great idea! I've only sold cosmetics at fairs.

I suggest you only do hand massage on the day, much less messy and some people may not wish to have make-up removed and also should the person have an adverse reaction, I think a reaction on the hand is less of an impact than on the face.

Ensure you have public liability and personal indemnity insurance. Not wishing to scare you but it is best to be covered in case there is anyone out there who wishes to take issue (and there are the odd one) even a church charity event you need this. Maybe put together a consent document for the person to sign that the information they have given you is accurate and check allergies and medical conditions that need special consideration.

You could do a demonstration and if so I suggest you have a pre-organised "volunteer" and could even demonstrate how to do a self-treatment.
