CPD Advice

Hi all,

Just wanted to pick your brains if possible. I have a little spare money coming my way this month and want to invest in it CPD. I am qualified in holistic massage, deep tissue and Indian Head so far and am booked onto a facial rejuvenation course in June.

However I was wondering if anyone had any advice on which treatments they find the most popular as to what course may be the most profitable for me as I build up my massage business. I was thinking of perhaps hot stones, on site, trigger point, thai foot massage, hopi ear candles. I can't afford to do them all so was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the most popular.

out of the list you have given I do a lot of deep tissue and trigger point, and a fair few hopi ear candle treatments.
in the winter I tend to do quite a few hot stone massages. the nice thing about hot stone is that you can do some many combinations of treatments once you've qualified.

Hiya, out of the extra ones i have gone on to do, hot stone massage has proved incredibly popular and as maychang has said, can be used in different ways and combinations. I get quite a bit of business from hot stone massage and some of my clients purely just want hot stone massage and never deviates from this. So, going on personal experience, i would certainly find this the next best one to invest in.

I've also found the hot stone course really beneficial. I've found that most clients who try it have it again and again. It's also made people who've never fancied massage before want to give it a go. It's a lovely treatment to give too.

if you want to go into hold and cold stones then look out for La stone therapy, they offer training around the country and it is approx 3 days long and you can then do add on courses after this. Their are books out on la stone therapy.

If you want to do just hot stone massage then you can easily learn this in a day, I don't really know where Cotswolds are as geography is not my bestus subject.

I did mine with Helen Mcguiness near Southampton. I was very pleased with the course. Unfortunately don't know of anything closer to you.

I trained originally in remedial massage. I rarely use it now since training in myofascial release. Which is great, no messy oils, and release happens a lot faster and is longer lasting and holds more effectively, I find. MFR and triggerpoint, perfect partners. I trained with Art Riggs. I work part time with a pro football club, that's the only time I do standard/sports/deep tissue massage.

The most improtant thing about MFR and TP. They look at the areas that are actually causing the dysfunction rather than just treating the area that hurts. The results can be astonishing.

I have a friend that does hot stone, it's very popular for her. She uses hot oil with it. Which reminds me, I'm booked in with her on tuesday ;D

I'm doing Quantum Touch at the end of this month. Which I'm looking forward to.
