I went on vacation last week in Jamaica and figured to end my stay on a relaxing note, I would get a nice, long massage. I opted for a 90 minute couples swedish massage with my fianc?. After it was over, we both admitted to each other than they were really rough. I couldn't lift my arms above my head for the rest of the day because my shoulders were so sore. She left bruises on my arms, back, and legs. It felt good but at some points it was so painful I almost cried. The next morning, we flew back to the states and spent 13 hours in airports and flying. The following day, first day home, I woke up with a sore throat. I initially figured it was due to the disgusting recycled air on the airplanes and overall filth of the airports, but after thinking about it and not really developing any other cold symptoms (stuffy nose, runny nose) could this be due to the massage? I know when you get a deep tissue massage like that you need to drink a ton of water to rid your body of all the toxins, but I figured four bottles of water was pretty good? What do you think? Just an icky cold I picked up in the airport or just my body reacting to the massage?
I want to note that I haven't had a massage in about 6 years, and I'm a smoker.
