How often do you have client (male or female) attempt to try something with you?

How do you handle it?

You either laugh it of and tell them its inappropriate or you just tell them to stop or the treatment will stop, it happens to everyone at some time or other regardless of gender and you have to decide at the time what action to take [/align]

Though I was shocked when a user of my American based Bodywork forum revealed they kept a gun hidden away in their practice room!! As they say, only in America.

Well I have had several of both sexes hit on me or try and start something sexual with me. Most therapist wear there pouches of massage oil on their hip. I keep my oil pouch where it cover my pubic area and my purell on my hip. That away if they try and cop a feel they grab my oil bottle instead.

I had one client that kept grabbing my oil bottle and moaning "oh my". I then told her that that was my oil bottle. I swore if I ever saw her agaoin I would be wearing my goalie cup from Hockey.

I tell my wife every time something like this happens. Luckly she is very understanding and she knows I am not interested in following up with any offers from clients.

I ended up adding this question and answer to my FAQ:

What is not included in a therapeutic massage?

When I was first learning massage, I was really put off by the amount of men who thought I would be offering other services. It really disheartened me as I was only young and had experienced sexual violence previously. I stopped learning massge because of the constant remarks and propositions (this was before I even qualified).

Now I am a bit older and am made of sterner stuff!!! It can be very intimidating and threatning to new therapists though.

Please remember that if you are touched innapropriately it is classed as assault, if you are touch on genitals, even through clothing, it is classed as indecent assualt, which is a sexual offence.

It has only ever happened to me once when I was younger, by a local councillor of all people, it was about 10 minutes into the treatment, and I stopped the treatment and told him I was calling the police. He swiftly paid my hourly rate and left!

Unfortunately its not something that you can forsee when booking clients, but you can usually see signs when they are on the couch.

I think sometimes a lot depends on where you advertise, local newspapers usually attract unsavoury clients.

Here state side the laws are a little different.

But I have been playing with this idea. The first time that they try something tell them If they do that again it will double the cost of their massage, the massage will be stoped and they will be blacklisted.

18 months ago I went to the Polynesian Spa in Rotorua in North Island, New Zealand, it's in the world's top 10 Spas. It was fabulous sitting in the volcanically heated pools and afterwards a trip to their delightful restaurant - again with a selection of sweets. I think it's a super idea of AlanofDale to provide luxury items likes cheesecake. It would work well in a small clinic

Blame it on my wife. Since we have been married she has put 30-40 lbs on me with her home cooking. If I can ever get the startup capital, she will then have her own bakery. Until then I will have to make my clients suffer with my fate of being married to a wonderful cook.

SO this thread has been Hijacked......

I only do them for my PMS Parties.

Here is what I do. Christy(my wife) starts by making individual white chocolet cheesecakeswith chocolet rasberry sauce, Chocolet chip cookies with walnuts, Cinnamon Rolls with cream cheese iceing and Her famous homemade fudge(not to sweet and not to rich). The ladies provide the own wine and sit down and enjoy the low-cal googies(wink wink nudge nudge) and have a gab session. I usally set up in another room and do 50-60 minute massages, or bring my massage chair and work on them while they chat.

Depending on how many massages I do determins how many goodies I bring.
