Cleaning old bottles

Hi folks

I've got about 20 old EO bottles. How do I go about cleaning them? How do I remove the labels - I think they might gum up the dishwasher if I put them in there? And how do I remove the dropper caps?

I slip a knife between the bottle and the cap to remove them, and I have used the dushwasher to clean them without any adverse effects. The only glitch I found was when I include an empty cinammon bottle, the cinammon smell lingered longer than I expected.

I may be talking out of turn here, but bicarb of soda is good for getting rid of smells, eg in the fridge.

Another thing which could perhaps be tried is denture cleaning powder, which I have used for years to remove tea and coffee stains from mugs. Just pour in a little powder, top up with hot water and leave for a while while it froths up. Pour away and rinse.

This stuff also works to remove limescale build up on my cut glass wineglasses. For this I just make it into a paste and spread it on.
