Oddly enough, we've had several ladies tell him they feel more comfortable having him do the work than me, for whatever reason. I think in that regard it is actually "reverse prejudice" (you know how some MT's are always complaining how people seem to be prejudiced against male MT's). These ladies actually feel more comfortable with Hubby b/c he IS a male (I don't know if it's because he was already their MT or if they would have felt that way if they'd come to us specifically for the breast massage sessions). I'm not sure I understand that, but I know nothing "funny" is going on so I don't really care.
Part of it could be that they feel they're being compared
with you and
by you. Society encourages women to be petty and vain about appearances, so they probably feel a subconscious threat at your hands. It's odd, and it's petty, but there it is. The best thing we can do is to live by example to discourage this behavior.
As for "reverse prejudice", I encourage people to drop the "reverse" part. It seems to tell people that it isn't a big deal, and it's often played off for laughs. Prejudice and racism are prejudice and racism, no matter the target of such behavior. The problem is, if those clients are discriminating against you, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it because the client's comfort comes first. I'm glad that you have an objective outlook on it. And I'm glad that you and your husband are practicing this form of massage. There's nothing sexual about it, especially when you're quite literally working pressure out of your client's chest so they can breathe easier. There are also pectoral muscles under the breasts! Men get their pecs worked all the time; are we just supposed to ignore ours? :irked:
