child with ? asthmatic cough

hi,
has anyone got any suggestions for possible ways to try and help a small child (14months old) who may have an asthmatic cough. he appears to have whats best described as a rattly chest and this only seems to bother him last thing at night and first thing. he has not ?officially been diagnosed but this was suggested by a gp. not keen on keeping him on inhalers, esp steriod based one's as this did seem to help slightly. i was thinking of what could be used in a burner perhaps or at least something airbourne so to speak.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Frankincense is very good for asthma. It helps deepen the breath, is good for coughs, can help clear mucus. The aroma is also very comforting so would hopefully put your childs mind at rest.
Perhaps blend with a little lavender especially in the evening before bed>

Hi there,

Atlas Cedarwood is also good for asthma. Might help to vapourise it into the living room about an hour before bed not just in the bedroom so the benefits are felt before the child goes to sleep.

Personnaly i think that old fanshion remedies work, and they certanily did with my children, if this cough is only at night, then i would stick a few books under the top end of the bed/cot, as this allows the mucus to drain during the night rather than 'lay' on his chest, AND IT WORKS

I agree with the idea about tilting the end of the cot - worked with both my boys too. Would definitely consider a blend of Atlas Cedarwood (to open up bronchioles) and lavender (to help soothe babe into sleep). Mandarin would also blend beautifully with atlas cedarwood and is indicated for a restful nights sleep
