ok..i am currently going to a school that is in the process being accredited...hopefully by the end of this year.The school is however, a licensed school..My gradation date is 070905.. the hearing is 102205here is my dilema..the school director said that if we wanted we could HOLD an assigment until after the accredidation and then she will issue our diploma.. so then we can say that we graduated from an accredited school.I just don't feel right by doing that, but in the event that I wish to move to another state to work.. I might have to retake the schooling AGAIN.. i have worked hard for 624 hrs and I don't want to take this all over again!!ANY IDEAS or OPINIONS on what to do?thanks so much..

Seems to me you did the work, so there's no question of cheating. If you can afford to wait a couple of months, I would say go for it!It is amazing how much importance can be placed on a term like "accredited", but it is what it is. And if you can avoid having to retake classes to satisfy another state's requirements, again it seems like it's worth it.Of course, there is the consideration of how YOU feel about it. You're the one who will live with your decision. You are the only one who knows what will be comfortable for you.

thank you very much for your opinion. I was torn to say the least.. I worked very hard and it is ashamed that the standards are not balanced as of yet regarding the requirements.I think I might wait, just in cast I decide to move to another state.. that little word is so important it seems.thanks again..

I agree, waiting seems quite sensible.  The only problem would be can you afford to wait more than 3 months - it would easily be 4 months by the time you got the paperwork....  You have said "hopefully by the end of the year" - how long would you be prepared to wait? What if there were a couple of minor issues and it took another 6 months for another hearing?If you can wait, do so, that one word does make a huge difference.  It's good of the school to offer a way for you to get an acredited diploma.

The accredidation will be granted based on the curriculum you're currently studying.  I don't see anything wrong with holding one assignment back so your diploma will be from an "accredited" school.

Agreed. If you're doing the same work anyway, might as well wait and get that special word put in there that usually means the difference from practicing legally and illegally if you move to certain states. No use going through school all over again.

I also agree...if the curriculum you are studying and learning from is the same they have submitted for accreditation there is no ethical dilemma here.If you can afford to wait it is probably in your best interests to do so.

Waiting for the word "accredited"... will give you a lot more flexibility and more doors will be open. If you can wait.... i see no ethical dilemna...perhaps an immediate financial one though  :-/

Is your certificate actually going to have the word "accredited" writen on it.  I have diplomas or certificates from several accredited institutions and none of them have that word on them.

I would definitley wait, especially since none of us know what  our future holds.  Especially since you are in a state that doesn't have a strict requirement as of the moment. I know many other students that waited for whatever reason to complete their certification, so it isn't going to be that difficult in the long run.  I think it will give everyone a better piece of mind to be "accredited" it just validates your education.  Believe me it won't be that much time in the long run.  I had to wait 4 months to finish the 2nd half of my program and then another 6 months before I could take my licensing exam.  It will definitely be worth the wait, especially since you don't want to figure well what if, and have other students be at an advaneforum.xxxe that you actually being there taking the classes and doing the work for the statistics generated and have potentially a huge disadvaneforum.xxxe.  Don't stress, your school is doing the right thing for all of you.  Yeah, it doesn't seem ethical but then - oh wow, the school had a water pipe explosion that needed major repairs delaying the amount of time that you were in class causing you to graduate at a later time with a huge class and all the papers that your class had submitted were damaged in the flood!!! Don't worry, you will be fine!
