Many KTV have common areas. Usually with few tables and a bar and a dancing platform. The moment you sit down somebody will come and sit with you. Before you order the drink it is better to negotiate the price for let us say 10 beers bottles. They will bring 10 beer bottles in a ice container. Some girls or some guys will try to chat u up and try to drink your beer. Their job is to get you drunk or get you to buy more beers. You can politely refuse their company. Just sit and have your drink and keep on the lookout for the manager or mamasan. You will know soon enough who is in charge. Call the person over, pour them a drink and start asking questions like how much for the takeout ST or LT etc. Once you agree on the price ask to see the girls. In the open area there will not be a lineup. They will bring one by one. If you like one ask them to sit with you. Have a drink and pay and take her.
Never ask the girl to sit with you if you are not planning to take her. If you do the bar will add a charge usually 200 RMB for that even if she sat with you 5 minutes. By going alone you are in a disadvaneforum.xxxious position to pick the girls. Also do not be surprised if you do not get much attention. They know there will not be much money coming from you. I have gone alone few times. If you become a regular they treat you better and can get a good pick.
Get a girl for LT. You will get her number and you can call her later. Most are freelancers and although they do have to be in the KTV every night, they can go wherever if they are not picked.

CP Peninsula is a hotel for sure (aka Ban Dao)... I always stay there. I am getting a bit fuzzy... TaoYuan recreationtown was a hotel too I think, but nobody actually stayed there...I think.

And sorry, never been to CA (Chang An?) so no idea on that one.

Thank you for this information, I am sure it will be useful when I am in the area the first two weeks of July. Regarding these two places, are they also hotels. Or what hotels are near them. On another note, I am choosing CP over CA because I am also looking at other recreational outlets with girls such as, barber shops and massage places. I read in another thread that CA does not have as many of these other places as CP. Is this true to your knowledge. Thanks.

The ones in the hotel have them. I personally have been to the ones in BanDao (CP Peninsula) and TaoYuan recreationtown. I am almost positive the other local big hotels would have them to. Haven't been to a standalone KTV though, so not sure about those.

Another option is some hotels have massage service to your room with FS. I have only been to 2 KTV's in this area and they did not have a bar area.

Thanks for the information about going to KTV's single. Still looking for some friends to go with week of July 6 to 9. So I will go to the barber shops alone, I guess. Also, I have read that some KTV's have large, community bar areas were single can sit. Miss some of the fun, but still sounds enjoyable. Does anyone know the name of KTV's that have this option?

I would never go to a KTV alone unless i was familar with the place. You can really get scammed in some places and end up with a huge bill. Better to go with locals you know.

I will be in Southern China Monday, July 6th, and want to go to Chang Ping and/or Chang An that week. Will be arriving in Hong Kong. I would love to have some mates to explore the KTV's with. I understand that it it best to visit these places as a group.

On another note, if I cannot find a group, what are the best options? As a single is it best to skip the KTV's and go to the barber shops, massage places, etc? Thanks for your help. Oh yes, I do not speak mandarin, only English and some French. Traveled to Asia many times, but often different countries so have not picked up one of the languages.

Almost all hotels will allow girls in. Sometimes they will expect you to register the girl, she has to provide ID at the receptionist. Other than that, I've had no problems.

As far as girls...China has plenty of them. Just ask the concierge at the Ramada and they will direct you. There are also some very cool clubs in Guanzhou, with good music, live music. Again ask the concierge.

You will find Filipina's, Chinese, Eastern Europeans and on one rare occasion, I hooked up with an Indian.

The cheaper hotels have good massage parlors. The girls in general are very good.

I dont think so she can provide transportation from Hong Kong. By the way, it is convenient to take train from Shenzhen Louhu train station to Dong Guan / Chang Ping, only take 30 mins to reach chang ping and only RMB 20++ per trip.
