I've got LOTS of chair work ahead...if I'm lucky to find the proper venues. Might be my major work for a long time.My hubby Mike is the business end of the partnership. He's good! Just researched the density of MT's in our zip code, and the surrounding counties.Here's the link he found:http://www.massagetoday.com/list/info/maslocatorzip/There's a general list at the bottom, but if you hit each state you get a breakdown by the actual first three numbers of your zip.*groan* Not good news! There are more MT's in our little area than people who actually get massaged! That never bothered me before. It was the last thing I could think about when I started in Cleveland. I learned really quickly that each client responds to a certain style. I made a lot of friends among peers, and always referred people out to mt's that might suit them best. Believe it or not, my business never suffered because of that.  To those in my area worried about their business....I'm not after clients that already have therapists...I'm geared to making more clients for all of us.Chair Massage will be my promotional tool.It helps a lot with planning, though. tranquil, you found the prime place FAST!(lets dress like ninjas and follow her around)Lots of sailors and Navy families on Guam...those single arms must get tired.Carol, oops!...*lol* You might have moved to a location where people actually go to therapists more. That's really more important! Where I live, its all little cities, with populations of aging, hard working farmers. My hubby works for the ONE big industry in town. *gulp*Most of the go-getters who might be interested are living up north near Tacoma and Seattle.  :-/gi

Hi everyoneI looked up the zip codes that are in my area and they are totally off.  I'm in the 994 and 835 (WA & ID).  There are considerably way more massage therapist.

Yeah the figures seem off for Wisconsin as well. I don't think those figures for my area have changed in years... because I know there are more MT than that now... we have 2 new MT schools in the area churning them out!According to the lastest Massage Magazine issue the state total for Wisconsin should be: 2,471According to MassageToday.com the total as of Sept. 3, 2004 is: 1637. Nothing like being about 1,000 MT off....

Well that doesn't seem logical to me, that the numbers would be only for AMTA members. Massage magazine for instance is independent of the AMTA and AMBP.I would think that their numbers must come either from the individual states themselves if it's a licensed state, or from the National certification board. *shrugs*But it's hard to say really, we could be here guessing all day... I just wish they would explain where they get the #s from.  LOL

Oof, yah -- waayyy off for Nebraska, too.When I got a list of LMTs for my state back in *May*, there were 739 names.This list says it was just updated 9/10/04 and there are only 483 LMTs listed for NE... Hmmm. Either the update date's wrong or someone doesn't know how to do good research.
