Chair massage in a large office

Hi all! I'm a newly licenced massage therapist working on building my own practice. I've got a good shot at getting into the local hospital to do chair massage for the nursing and support staff sevaral days per month, however, I'm not sure how to set up schedualing procedures for this type of atmosphere. Dealing with nurses usually means they don't get set schedualed breaks, and I don't want to have a crowd of unhappy nurses because I don't have enough time to do them all. I have done this on a much smaller scale in another heathcare facility, but I had a signup sheet, and everyone pretty much made their appointment with no problems. I am informed it cannot possible work this way in a hospital setting, and was wondering if there's anyone out there who has done this kind of thing, or run into this problem and any solutions or advise would greatly be apreciated. I did it the lazy way!
I found out who was the the "Queen Bee", you know the kind of person that everyone relates to and knows everything that's going on, and offered her a free massage evey month in exchange for running the booking list.
She emails every ward collects the names, and emails me the list of takers the day before. So far, it hasn't missed. She advises me if the list is less than four (my break-even), and arranges a better day for me.

Mike seems to be on to a winner there. I have a lovely lady at one hosp I go to, and she organises the rota for me. It is nice to have an inside contact. I think people will make the time to come for a massage, and if you open it up to all workers eg the IT team, housekeeping, lab technicians, admins and so on you'll surely be on to a winner. I have done therapy days at a very large local hospital, and there were people who turned up and I had no idea their services would even be needed in a hospital eg estates management. Lots of cogs in the machine equals lots of potential customers for you. You might find that Occupational Health will buy into your scheme and give you some support for example by emailing all staff and putting up posters advertising your services. Right now the NHS is concerned with looking after their staff so you could use this to your advantage. Good luck - I'm sure they'll be biting your hand off.

hi guys,

i'm just beginning to think about how to approach businesses in inner east london. i was hoping you could give me some pointers on how you marketed yourselves?... did you distribute fliers? cold call? email? write letters? or visit each office/establishment in person? if so, who did you ask to speak to? any tips on what really sold it to them?

any ideas i could shamelessly plagiarise would be wonderful. hope you can help.

Hey guys, update on this subject. I spoke with the Ceo of the hospital, he directed me to someone in personel who is in charge of nursing benifits. Sounds like a good thing if i can ever get ahold of him. Am still looking for ideas though, as there is no real " Queen Bee" there ( much to my dissapointment) Thank you for the advise though, I'm definitly going to use that with some of my other offices. By the way I'm in Florida, USA. and I'm talking about a 200+ bed facility. I don't know if that will help trigger anybody with ideas, but there are at least 1000+ employees in this place, counting all support, office, outpatient staff, plus doctors offices on campus. That's alot to deal with, and knowing I would'nt be able to get to half of them, even with my friend helping me in a 6 month time span, I'm looking for any creative solutions as to time, schedualing conflicts and such. Thanks all!
