Certificate or Associates Degree?

I am currently in the certificte program but may switch to the Associates Degree program.

My school, a community college, focuses more on "outcome based" massage in the associates degree program.

I'm curious what your school offers, which program you decided to do, and why?

A community college in my area offers an Associate Degree in Massage Therapy, claiming it trumps any of the certificate programs around. But if you look at their curriculum, the massage therapy portion of it is limited to about 350 hours, and the science portion of the curriculum is weak. Their program will never be COMTA-accredited, and yet it costs about $30k.

On the other hand, I went to a one-year certificate program at a COMTA-accredited school that cost FAR LESS, and yet received over 780 hours of training with a VERY strong science component.

I ALWAYS recommend choosing top quality instruction when you can get it. Be critical and don't fall for marketing. Demand substance and depth, and don't settle for less.
