candles ??

I have just qualified in holistic massage and need to set up my therapy room. The one thing i am struggling to find are candles. Does anyone massage by candle light or just low lighting. if you do use candles for effect what candles should i use and is there a good source to by these. what about led colour changing lighting too much???

Hi, I use tealights from Ikea, you can buy a bag of 100 for $4 or so over here. I have two lamps on during a massage, and usually 3 or 4 candles burning. I used to share a room with a girl who burned at least 10 candles, once when I came in at the end of her shift, she had 15 candles going! I used to wonder if it was some sort of fire hazard! [sm=eeeK.gif] My only advice is to get non-scented candles, because some people are very sensitive to scents.

Yep you can't beat good old Ikea!!! always worth a trip to pick up tealights and a hundred other things you don't really need

I always do my treatments by candlelight combined with a low voltage lamp.

whoops forgot I also have a large glass vase with 6ft willow sticks entwined with white fairy lights too - Ikea again

Welcome to the mad, mad world of holistic massage! I have some beautiful candles. Lovely scented ones, large ones, colourful ones, strange shaped ones and ordinary one. Buying them when they're on special offer has become something of a hobby for me as generally quite a lot of them tend to get wasted! I must have a look into recycling some of the wax and mold them into my own shapes etc.

I use a small table lamp when treating clients but always have a candle burning as well. I find looking at the flame mesmerizing and thought it would help to create a good atmosphere for the client. I always face them away from the light towards the candle so they can watch the flame if they want to. One thing to watch though is the sooty marks the candles leave on your ceiling! I went into my treatment room yesterday to look for something and opened the curtains for a change. The ceiling is filthy just above where the candles are burnt!!!

Thanks to you all for the info. I think I will take a trip to IKEA. I have not been for quite a while and it is a good excuse to spend hubbies money. Like you say you come back with loads more than what you went for. I also like the idea of fairy lights will look into this. Thanks again
