Can your hands get messed up if you become a Massage Therapist?

I would like to become a Massage Therapist but a lot of people tell me that after a while of massaging people your hands get messed up.. i don't know how.. maybe the joints in your hands..
Can anyone tell me more about this. thank you

Any job you do with your hands may eventually cause you to have arthritis in the joints of your hands. I have standard poodles and all of the groomers that I've known that were older have arthritis in their hands. It just comes with over use. Operating room nurses get arthritis in their feet from standing on hard floors for hours at a time.

The key is to take care of your hands like you would specialized instruments. You would seek medical attention if you began having pain or stiffness in your hands and the physicians who specialize in that can give you tips on how to take care of yourself.

Don't let that keep you from doing what you want to do!
