Hi
I love massage and I'd like to do it part time. I've hung around the school so I have a decent idea of what it would be like and that the therapist uses their body weight to massage more than actual strength. I've heard stories about small bodied people working in massage, but it is mostly because they are short, where I am just narrow and small-boned.
The instructors I've seen have okay'ed my size at a glance. The thing is I look like I'm about a hundred pounds, but I'm really about eighty five. I'm healthy and high-energy, just small-built. Another issue is my back and arms are not so strong, I have a somewhat poor/ weakish posture, and I can squeeze out about five pushups (but my legs are strong). I'm currently enrolled in skin care program so I perform massages on arm/hands and feet and I get told I have a strong grip and healing hands. I'm also an artist, so I'm concerned if my lack of body weight may somehow contribute to a higher likeness of getting carpal tunnel.
If you have experience working as a massage therapist, would you say I'm good to go for it, or will I have trouble with lacking of body weight? Thanks
