Can Aromatherapy blends be copyrighted?

I have several wonderful books that have some awesome aromatherapy blends and I want to use them to scent some bath products that I sell. I know I cant copy / sell / or in anyway reproduce the book in anyway but what about the blends? Can I sell the products that I found in my books? Thanks!

Well, this is the PHOTOGRAPHY section...but I would assume they cannot be copyrighted. They can, however, be patented most likely. It'd be similar to cologne and other fragrance blends.

You can even contact the publishers to ask them for using it in your products,if you are sure about the success of the products you can throw out some money to them to get this done.

I think it would fall under the category of a recipe which can't be copyrighted, which is why there are so many "secret recipes". If someone else figures it out, they have every right to cook up a batch of aromatherapy blend as you do. The name that you pick for the blend can be copyrighted and the packaging can be trademarked, but the blend itself? I don't think so.

You PATENT such blends. Copyright is for intellectual property. Call the US Patent Office for details.

Even if there's no law against it, it's kind of lame, not to mention insulting to all the people who spend months formulating scents, to steal someone else's formula and market it as your own..
