camping mats for thai massage???

Do any Thai massage practitioners use camping mats? I have come a across a few who do use them but am uncertain as to how comfortable they are?

What do most Thai massage practitioners use? as some of the mats are extremely heavy and a pain to lug around.

Not to worry. I use a Japanese style futon for Thai massage, both at a clinic and mobile. It's quite thick because I work on different surfaces in different situations. It's 4.5 by 6 foot and I roll it up one direction and then another (90 degrees) and strape it to make it small enough to sit on the back seat of the (small) car. You can buy them from www.futonpacifika.co.uk . They make smaller ones if you really wish more portability.

AS for camping mats, I wouldn't bother. Too thin and can slip depending on the material. Depends of course on your working conditions.

I use a sort of camping mat - it's roughly the size of the futon described above, but a lot easier to handle, it's 1.4mx2m (about 4.5 by 6 foot ) but it is a LOT thicker than a camping mat, about 2.5cm (1inch). It's the high density foam like a camping mat, not soft foam like a bed underlay. It rolls up into a large roll, but it is lighter than a futon. It fits in my car with no problems.
