I'm going to be graduating in two months, but before we're done with school we're supposed to write up a business plan. My idea is to have a traveling business that goes into peoples homes who cannot travel or into businesses to give chair massages to employees. I'm pretty sure I'll need different business licenses for each individual city that I travel to.
I'm just wondering what things I should include. How do I incorporate the price of gas into the price of the massage? How would I go about attracting clients to my business. What do the finances look like?
Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Start by determining what municipal areas you expect to work in. From there, look at state, county, and local licensing requirements. Also review tax codes to see how much of what you'll charge you need to fork over to government. Figure out what you'll need to spend for the equipment you'll need, and remember that some costs will be recurring. Make a list of one-time, recurring, and estimated occasional expenses, and see what you'd need to charge to cover those costs and still make a profit.

That's a short list, and by no means complete. If you don't clearly define what you'll be doing and where you plan to do it, you'll never be able to write a clear business plan. On the other hand, a good plan is a serious help when it comes time to make hard choices.

How do I incorporate the price of gas into the price of the massage?

One thought on this... I drive about 65 miles each day to & from work ... plus whatever various stuff I do in the day. I think that would be a good average in general for when someone is going to clients homes all day, so maybe you could just take that number or something close and then multiply it by what gas costs in your area, in order to come up with a general figure that you could "apply" to your fee.

I know we have a few strictly outcall therapists on the forum, so they may be able to help too.

Side note: my flat charge for doing an outcall is $145/hour. In office is $75/hour for reference.
