Here's a query for you fine fingered folks today!
Recently, while talking to a friend of mine she told me of a new therapist that she has started seeing. This therapist during the intake expressed to my friend that she (the therapist) was a little unconventional in that when she is working on someone she has two behaviours that might strike someone on the table as odd.
The therapist then went on to explain that when she hits a particularly tight spot, it may cause her to belch and since she realized what it is, she lets the belch out with as much gusto as possible to help to expel the negative energy or tension. She also explained that if the client begins to drain her energy that it will make her yawn constantly and her eyes will begin to water excessively.
Now, my friend swears that she has started to see colours when the therapist belches and has associated the sound with a release and is quite comfortable with it.
Normally, I would say hooey to this but I have noticed sometimes when I am working on people I will get a sensation in my tummy like a burning, or acidic feel and then I will feel the need to belch! I have tried to notice when it happens and thought it might be due to what I have eaten that day...and I feel pretty safe saying that it isn't food related. It only happens sometimes, but it does happen when I am working on something that is tight.
Have you guys ever heard of this? Does this happen to anyone else? Is this a viable explanation for the urge to burp that I feel occasionally during a session?
