Today was the last day of school, .....but I am taking the next 3 months to recoop. The next class start in June, so I will continue then. I got so far behind, and I know why I am behind....it is because we had a family crisis,
my brain is so fried right now. And to top everything off, I found out that I fluncked my Anatomy Final.....yet again!! Today was not a good day for me.
I am open for suggestions....I guess I just needed to vent.

To destress... I like to take herbs. They have worked wonders for me. St. John's Wort, Valerian Root, and Kava Kava top my list. A nice cup of Masala Chai tea (brewed loosely and strained) with milk and honey added afterward is veeeery nice

I was told once to touch a tree! I know that might sound hokey, but apparently it balances you and cleanses your vibes & whatnot I wouldn't doubt that it works.

Listen to some good music... I'm a music wh0re... if you need any suggestions, just drop me a pm Some of the stuff I listen to will put you in a Happy Place...

And lastly, I am an Anatomy NERD! I know of textbooks, websites, and I am happy to offer mnemonics (sp?) and shortcuts wherever possible. My major is Anatomy--that's what we'll get one of our degrees in when we're done. So I might be able to help.

Sorry to hear your news! I can understand your position,as my niece died while I was in massage school,and it really threw me for a loop for a few weeks,but I regrouped and came back swingin'-- I am sure you will be just fine once you de-stress and rest some.BTW-Hugging a tree or taking a walk in nature does ground you and make you feel so much better! Things will improve.

I lost a cousin (April), my uncle (May) and my dog (just 2 wks before graduation) while in MT school, and as HappyKarma said it threw me for a loop for a bit too. It's not easy going back to school and learning all these things, but hopefully you have some friends and classmates you can talk to about school... and about what's going on in your life.

St. John's Wort worked for me, however Valerian and Kava Kava didn't agree with me. Everybody's different, you may want to consult an herbalist, M.D., or psychiatrist, etc... to see what might help you make it through such a physically, spiritually and emotionally challenging time! Use all the tools given you! And remember we're your cheering section! t038 t041 :woohoo:

I am so sorry to hear about everything, especially the losses. As far as the anatomy final goes, keep your chin up and when you feel ready crack the book again. I have heard anatomy can be a difficult subject all be it interesting. We are all here for you t049 t041

I hear you. I lost my dear grand-aunt 2 months before graduation, and suffered a miscarriage 1 month before graduation. It feels awful, I know. I'm glad you have a little time to pull yourself together. I know you can do it.

It's true there are a lot of study resources for the academic part. If you can speak to one of your teachers about your individual learning style and have some tutoring, that might help. PM me for learning-style info if you need it.

You're wise to take some time off.

Ideas for when you're ready to go back to school:

• Use a tutor or any study programs your school has.
  
  Talk with your instructors during the quarter/semester. Find out how you're doing if you don't know. See if they have any suggestions for helping you to be successful
  
  Put some lemon or peppermint essential oil on a tissue. Sniff it while you're studying & then again while you're taking a test. Studies have shown improved recall of information with use of these oils.
  
  Re-enter school with a self-care plan in place.
  
  Hope your 3 month break is rejuvanating. Don't forget to get some bodywork!

Do you have a diffuser? Put some water in it and a few drops of sage oil. That is said to cleanse negative vibes from the space.

Also, I have a tape recorder that I use in class and it helps tremendously!

I second the tape recorder idea...

I actually invested in a good digital recorder exactly because I was having so much trouble in anatomy. I was able to download the files onto my computer and burn them to CDs. I'd listen to them in the car, when I was cleaning my house, while I worked out and since I would find myself nodding out during the lectures, I even would listen with headphones in bed at night.

I went from barely pulling a C+ in A&P I to an A in A&P II. Constantly reviewing recordings in my free time also helped with my memorization in myology & kinesiology and neurology.

Enjoy your break, rest up, breathe deep and KNOW you can do it!
