Bowen / NST

I'm not at all familiar with Bowen technique. Today I came across Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST). Looks fascinating to me.

Would someone be willing to explain to me a little about what Bowen is, how it is applied, does it work well in conjunction with other therapies, etc., etc.?

And what is the difference (if any) between Bowen and NST.

I don't know about NST, but Bowen reportedly can be very good. I've not found it much use when used on me, nor have people I've suggested try it.
Bowen is meant to be done as a stand alone treatment - not something you can blend in with other modalities, though lots of practitioners do. (I've only experienced it when used in another treatment, maybe that's why I wasn't impressed) As far as the client is concerned, it's not good for people that expect you "to do something" it's do a move, leave client on table for a few minutes, often practitioners leave the room in that time, then they come back and do another move. The people I've suggested try Bowen HATED that, which possibly affected their results.

Have had Bowen Technique work done and loved it - even though there was a huge release of toxins - it was worth it! My Chiropractor practices it and Jin Shin Jyutsu [not to be confused with Jin Shin Do]. Love the JSJ work as well. Very good at clearing physical, energetic and emotional blockages with very gentle touch.

Thanks for the message. I had already checked out previous posts and the linked sites. But, I still don't quite get it. It looks like one 'move' that's applied in different areas of the body. Strikes me as odd. Also, the leaving the room between 'moves' is unusual. So, I was hoping to hear some real life feedback/information/experiences, etc, etc.

Something about Bowen has always set off my "quack" radar... and as some of you might imagine, my skept-o-meter is mostly kept on "open minded".

Perhaps it was simply my experience, long before massage school, of calling a bowen practitioner to ask about pricing and possibly schedule an appointment and being informed by the receptionist that the first session would consist mostly of intake and that I "may receive a bowen" then or possibly not until the second session.

I never did schedule.

I have heard about the Bowen Technique previously on here. I don't have the link to the thread I read it on, but I do have a link to a website that may be benificial.
I haven't done much research recently, and I don't know how much info you can pull from the site but hope it helps!

Update:

I received a mini-Bowen at an event tonight... as described above, she did about 30 seconds or less of light to medium touch, left and worked on some other people, came back, repeat several times.

I undeniably felt a shift of some sort... suddenly I felt more clear headed. That was the only effect I noticed though. Her intent was to energize me for the evening, but I didn't get tons of energy or anything.

I'd be interested in experiencing more of this work, but I don't think I would pay much for the experiment. A trade might work. Tonight's practitioner isn't local, though, and I don't know anyone else doing it, so this will get filed away under "someday, maybe".

The fact that Tom Myers has not dismissed Bowen leaves me more open to it.
