Well, let's see it Was 8.5 years ago that I went through the process... but as I recall it went something like this.Fill out application... write an essay telling them WHY I wanted to go to MT school, call my HS and request copies of my transcripts be sent to the MT school and stop by at their next "open house." Get proof of having had at least 2 massages from a professional MTs.. and some letters of recommendation. (I got 1 letter from the gal who was my MT at the time... she was the one who suggested I'd be good at it... and 1 letter from my chiropractor.)Upon arriving at the school (having driven 4 hrs one way through a snow storm to get there)... I found the school had cancelled the open house that night. However, they were able to get the teacher (MT program director) to come out and meet myself and the other girl who they hadn't been able to reach about the cancelled open house.(I guess I'd have called this my first interview though the other potential student was there too and it was a bit informal.) The teacher then arranged for an appointment for a 2nd (slightly more formal) interview (this one with the director of admissions) the following day. Which seemed to go ok.So, anyway, a week later I got a phone call that I was accepted to begin with the very next class. (BTW, the girl who had been at the "open house" with me was put on a waiting list and actually attended class 18 months later!)And yes... they ARE concerned with your physical and emotional health... MT school is a life changing experience for most people. And can bring up a lot of issues that you didn't know you had. I definitely had moments where I felt like quitting... and I am sure I wasn't the only one. They want to know that you're going to stick with it. After all, it's in Their best interests, if You are a Successful Massage Therapist, isn't it?
