Back Massage Courses

Hi everyone!

Im looking for a back massage course but cant seem to find what im looking for. Is there such a thing as just a 'back massage' course? There are of course the SAM courses and swedish massage but I cant find one in between, much less an accredited one!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Can't say I have ever seen one. Although you see it offered as a treatment it's usually learnt as part of a standard massage course. Why do you want to learn just a portion of the body?
PS. What's a SAM course?

I know someone who does it, accredited by the guild, they are up in East Yorkshire and comes highly recommended. Pm me for information if its somewhere you can get to x

Thanks for your replies. Id like to learn about massaging the back rather than the whole body because some of my clients (I already practice Indian Head Massage) have asked me if i can massage their whole back aswell but ive had to refuse them because obviously im not qualified to do so. I just feel that i would be spending a lot of money and feel a bit resentful having to do a swedish massage course when i know i dont intend using half of the techniques.

SAM is Seated Acupressure Massage which is something else id like to learn but all in good time!

Im in Somerset. How did you get on with your SAM course? Did you find it interesting and do you get many requests for it?

Hi PB, to be honest I wasn't too impressed! I did buy a dvd showing a routine by someone else and I find if I combine the two methods it seems better but I personally don't think you can compare it to a proper back massage. I've done it a few times and the only person who gave a good response was a pregnant lady. She said she found it quite comfortable despite her 'bump'.

may be worth posting which area you are in

most seated massage courses require a basic massage qualification as do courses or workshops which do concentrate on back massage

I think Gateway is one who doesnt require a & p and does seated massage
wether they would have a course to fit your requirement
