Atlantis: The Best Strip Club

Having lived in Costa Rica for many years and having visited all of the better strip clubs many times, I consider Atlantis to be the overall best. The reasons:

Elegance: It is a very large and beautiful club, reminding me of the really good clubs in the United States. It has the feeling of comfort. Everything is first class from the furniture to the waiters' tuxedos to the dancers' clothes.

Number of dancers: It has more dancers than any club I have been to in Costa Rica. I counted 40 a couple of nights ago.

Beauty and quality of the dancers: Not first, but probably second or third. However, quite a few get a top rating.

Communications: Every waiter I have had contact with speaks good English.

Price of basic services: It is more expensive than many clubs in San Jose, but certainly not excessive considering what you receive if you only drink and watch the shows. They have a minimum of $15, but you can have three premium drinks (such as Baileys) and not exceed the minimum, with taxes and service included.

Confusion factor: If you stick to the basics, there is none. At each table there is a sign in English stating exactly what the price is for each of the basic services, such as dancers' drinks, wine, champagne, and private dances. The basic drink for a dancer is $14, which includes taxes and service, and one or two won't put you in the poor house. Glasses of wine and champagne are a little more. The tab is a printout in English of all services and costs and taxes and service charges, and the total is shown both in colones and dollars. It is easy to understand with no confusion. It is a pleasant change from a few of the clubs in town.

Prices of "premium" services: These would include bottles of champagne, a swim in the jacuzzi, and the private company of a dancer. These prices are not listed, but you can ask a waiter. Count on the fact that these will cost a lot more than in many of the not so elegant clubs. Ask first so there will be no unpleasant surprises when the tab comes.

Overall: I enjoy Atlantis very much. I usually have three drinks and buy one or two dancers a drink. The tab is $43. Sometimes I just have two or three drinks and watch the girls and the tab is $15. I think that is very reasonable.

Note: Many strip clubs have a small minimum which entitles the customer to have two or three drinks and watch some pretty girls dance and take off their clothes. I consider this to be bargain entertainment. Where most people get into trouble is going beyond this and buying a lot of drinks for dancers and having a lot of extra services. Many of these dancers throw the drinks down, and at $10 to $20 a drink in some of these clubs, the bill can get very large very fast. If you are on a budget, good self discipline will allow you to have a good time at a very reasonable cost.

I don't go strip clubs in CR to have 3 drinks and just watch the show. I can do that here in the states. :

The other clubs charge $7-8 for a girl drink, not $10-20.

I don't believe anyone has ever had a good time there and posted about it. If you have a few drinks, a drink with a girl, and a session in the room I think I've heard it can run close to $200. Maybe that's a bargain.

I just don't see the big deal in going to SC's in CR. It's like going to a more expensive DR where the girls take off a little more clothing.

I'm thinking I might have regretted not even giving this place a chance. I never ventured to this place because of all the bad reviews etc..
Most of which came in the rip off variety. Now I have NO DOUBT those stories were true, but little did I know the power really of YMMV.

I remember going into D'Pelufos and soon after sitting, buying the guy "taking care of us" with drinks a drink. I coyly reminded him that I wasn't a gringo and maybe this drink I got him would help him remember exactly how many drinks I've ordered.

Although it wasn't needed at this place perhaps next time I should try this approach at Atlantis. It sounds like a first rate type place, and if you aren't going to get the "gringo treatment", why not?

Actually I think I just made up my mind. Next time I'm in town, I will visit at least once and post the intel. Perhaps I can give a different perspective.

Sometimes you guys are just too tough. Before berating a member and calling him a shill for a place you should check his posting history. I did...and can find NO indication that Sunshine is anything but an interesting knowledgeable poster. He has been a contributor since Feb 2006 and has 58 quality posts. Differences of opinion are what keep this board interesting, BUT falsely accusing someone of something isn't healthy. IMHO

I DID check his posting history VB. I agree that there are no previous posts indicating any affiliation with Atlantis. However I still feel that his report on Atlantis sounds like copy written by an ad agency.

If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, sounds like a duck a reasonable person will conclude it is a duck. Is it possible they are mistaken? Sure. Should they not voice their suspicion it is a duck? I do not believe so but certainly others may think differently. That is what makes a "discussion" board.

I would agree that Atlantis is one of the better "Strip" clubs in CR. Only in it's the closes thing to a US strip club. ALSO, IT'S OPEN SUNDAYS TILL 5AM! So, on the occasions when I'm looking for something to do at 2am in SJO, and the DR is empty, I've gone to Atlantis... I ended up coming back to DR, and having myself a REAL nice Colombiana. Also, my "taxista" gave me a coupon for a free lapdance, which I used up the last time, so I got a dance, and drank 3 drinks and watched the girls go around on stage, all for $15, no tip.

Overall, my last time wasn't a bad experience.

However, I would put PR WAAAY ahead of Atlantis.

Of course, as I've stated before, I'm in CR to Phuk, if I want to go to see naked women, that's what Vivid Videos are for...

Strip Clubs in CR

What has always would for me so there is no surprises at the end of the night in the Strip Club in C.R., is ever run a tap, always pay as you go. You get else drink requests and the girls usually drink at a lot slower pace. I also tell the girls they have to keep up with me on the drinks slow or fast and the key word is slow. If you are pounding the drinks, usually they see a open ticket to do the same.

This forum is full of rip off/good bargain arguements.

Im a strong believer that Hotel M and Zona Blue are the biggest ripoffs south of the USA. Still you get guys who argue, its my money, why do you care how I spend it. The same in PI, you have hotels @ 20$ a night, yet they just recently opened a hotel with a room for 400$ a night. Why? Ive argued it time after time, and it keeps coming back to, its my money, Ill do what I want with it. Or you get what you pay for.

I personally have no reason to go beyond the call of duty, and spend more money in a third world country then I do at home. Ill be damned if Im going to spend 200$ for a session, when I can have a girl come to my house for 100-150$ here. Ill be damned if Im going to pay 14$ for a drink in a third world country, when I can walk out my door, take a taxi for 2 minutes, and Im on Ste Catherines street, with a shit load of clubs, allowing full contact, and LD's in around 10$ on average.

I go to these "exotic" places, to SAVEEEEEE money and get what I want without the hassle. I dont go to get blue balled by some dancer/prostitute, and then my wallet gouged, or my life threatened because I got ripped off so bad I refused to pay.

I go to get laid for cheap. I dont go for a girlfriend. I dont go to support some illegal immigrant puta. Its all about cheapppp sex.


How the phuck anyone can support Atlantis is beyond me
