Anyone getting an Associates degree in Massage Therapy?

I start school in 1 week for my Associates degree. I actually don't start the core classes until September but that's ok since I am taking classes toward my goal.

They didn't offer an associates degree here when I was in school. Louisiana just started it last year. If given the choice to just take the 600 hour course or the associate's I probably would have gotten a degree instead. I thought about going back to get my degree but I had alot of people tell since I am already Licensed it would be pointless unless just to have the an actual degree.

i start on monday. i have a lot of my key classes. i mainly just have to take the massage and a&p classes. i am very nervous and excited at the same time.

I think it is a very good option for those who do not have a degree, and if it is an option then go for it. I like the fact that my program was just the meat and potatoes to get my certification and license, since I was already coming to the program with a Bachelors in Biology Pre-med. If it was an associates program I probably wouldn't have done it since I was looking for something quick. I definitely think the schools that offer it as an option is a good idea so that it wouldn't be a hassle trying to convert the credits towards a degree since most schools are considered as a vocational school.

My school offered a degree course (2 years). I finished my first year with my certification and went right into the 2nd year. I quit after the first quarter of the degree program. It was all fluff. I spent 12 weeks in a accupressure class, I know NOTHING about accupressure. I do know how to breath if I want to start practicing Tai Chi. Not what I signed up for! So, as nice as it would have been to have a degree it wasn't worth the money. I wouldn't be able to offer accupressure to my clients based on what I learned. I would have had to pay more money to go to seminars.

I have an Associate's Degree and I can definitely assure you that it has helped me land jobs over people that are just certified.. especially if you also become Nationally Certified.. it's also good to have the extra education..

I will not be getting an associate degree. I think it's a good option for those who do not have a degree. I have already completed graduate school, so I am just going to complete mt school and get licensed in my state.
