I just talked to the owner of this Inn where I do massage about teaching couples basic relaxation massage in a private session to guests. I would take 2 hours and just give really detailed hands on class on it for both of them. I always hear couples saying how they want to learn this for themselves and stuff. The owner thinks it's a great idea.

I'm assuming it's pretty basic to teach, but maybe you guys have some extra thoughts.

It is just teaching the basics but personally I did a LOT of prep to get my couples class just right. They both learn the 3 most basic strokes, work on a personal "problem area," and leave with a goody bag that includes a laminated set of instructions, lotion, a massage tool, reflexology cards, etc. My class is 2 hours like yours. I'll see if I can dig out my materials -- I just closed my office and all my stuff is in the garage right now.

A goodie bag. Not a bad idea at all. I'm gonna think about that. Thanks for your ideas. I now have it all a little bit more structured in my head regarding what I am going to do exactly.

Luckily for me where I work I have a friend there and his girlfriend who will sacrifice themselves to be guinea pigs so I can go through a trial run. They'll give me feedback from their layman's point of view (they aren't MTs).

When I was teaching relaxation classes, I made sure I did it in a way that would make sense to the consumer not to another therapist. fwiw

a ceu instructor made a passing comment that he used to teach couples classes....he had found an already-ready presentation package from a company, they don't offer that exact one anymore, it looks like it's part of a more general one that's $70. I'll have to find my notes again to procure the website.

he indicated the biggest thing was communication within the couple in regards to massage.

I've never taught couples classes. If ya'll are interested in posting your curriculums that you ended up teaching, here, I think it would be an asset.

Well I just did a massage class session with a friend who works here and his girlfriend. It was just so I could see what it's going to be like and how they respond. It went really well, they both enjoyed it a lot and had a lot of fun and came out feeling great. I was surprised by their enthusiasm, he really thinks this is gonna be successful.

Just wondering if anyone had any class plans to share, as I am looking into holding a few classes (the first on couples massage) and am trying to come up with a good, interesting class layout. I thought about an hour to two time frame with take home goodies, but I dont want to get too long winded. Any thoughts or shares? Thanks in advance all. t006
