all very strange.....

hi just wondering if someone could help or is there an explanation?

i find that when i give treatments of reflexology to people i get cold near the end of the treatment (this also happens if i receive a treatment to), which i find very strange.

also i have found that i also get a headache after giving treaments to. i thought it was just my college that i was in ie, the heaters, but none were on last nite and i still got a headache! its really annoying. can anyone shed any light on this?

May be preaching to the converted, but do you protect yourself before treating your clients?

For example at College on sunday, one of the students who was giving a treatment, (we were using subtle energies), just burst into tears!

You may find the headache is dehydration. I am always very dry after a treatment and desperate for my water.

ummmm.....no i dont protect myself. our tutor did say something about it, but never really mentioned it again. what do i do??????

and yes i also feel very very thirsty after a treatment to.

it happens everytime i give a treatment, sometimes they are just slight and can carry on without it bothering me, other times its so intense that i have to go home to bed.

what can i do?????????????

It sounds like you may be sensitive to peoples energies......so it is imperative to ground yourself, this can be done any which way you like but a lot of people either imagine roots from them anchoring into the ground or being surrounded by a white light....if you feel you have picked up energy then place your palm against their soles of the feet and return the energy with love you could say in your head something like, "i am returning your energies with love and positivity"

Do try and drink water before/after a treatment where possible and dont forget if you are thirsty your client may also be thirsty too!

Hello.

I think that in reflexology particulary you pick stuff up from people, I think a lot comes out of the feet - I know it sounds mad, but in Reiki I was taught never to stand at the end of the feet but to the side.

I also get so thirsty doing reflexology, much more than aromatherapy, which is more strenuous. I can't do the treatment without water with me and suggest you do the same.

You need to protect yourself as you are obviously picking stuff up.

I posted a long reply yesterday but it disappeared to I'll try to remember it all...!

It does sound like you need to protect yourself, like the others are saying. There are lots of different ways of doing this and you need to find one that feels right for you. The main priority is that you don't let your energy be affected by your clients. During a treatment I always picture my client having their own energy system, and me having my own and that the two are quite seperate. As you know I do reflex and I don't believe that I am at any point channelling energy to my client so I find it easy to keep this distance. However I do use a visualisation that I was taught should I have feel the need for it which is imagining yourself completely surrounded by a bubble. It's a good idea to take a minute before the treatment, or even before your client arrives, to "set up" your bubble. If you imagine it all around you, keeping you a space around you that no one can get into. Imagine it as a strong bubble that can move with you and not break and if a client sends negative emotions or energy towards you they just bounce off the bubble's surface. I learnt this technique with a reflex tutor and she demonstrated by setting her bubble up at a certain distance and me detecting it. It was amazing how I could!

Other ways people protect themselves could be by imagining a waterfall between you and the client, or one my reflexologist used to use was imagining that there was a glass patio door between her and the client!!

At the end of the treatment when you wash your hands use this as a ritual of disconnecting with your client and washing any of their energies away.

You need to find something that suits you. Experiment with lots of different ideas and see what works!

hi, i agree about the protection issuses and the water....although i dont do reflex i do holistic massage one thing is that after the treatment run your hands under COLD water first to wash of and get rid of any energy youmay have picked up , then wash with the warm water as per usual.

i get very thirsty when doing masage and always keep water with me to sip as i often need it.

Hi Sarah

I know what you mean about feeling cold towards the end of a treatment. I think it's probably to do with being static, since your body temperature tends to drop if you're not mobile. I always need a blanket over me when I'm getting reflexology, even in the summer! (I think that's partly a comfort thing though).

The egg or bubble of light protection thing certainly does it for me. Reiki is also a good source of protection. I'm sure you'll find one that's good for you.
