Advice re Pampering Day

I am offering to do back massages for 10 minutes at a Pampering Day on Wednesday, held by the Company that I used to work for. They are also having some other therapists. They are offering the pampering to their foster carers. As usual we have no idea to the amount of people that are intending to visit on the day. Its from 10.30 to 1.30pm

I've just contacted the organiser who stated :

"I was thinking that you need to be able to offer something to those who want to use you-but you might have a few punters so may need to do 20/30 min slots".

Firstly, I feel that I cannot offer the full swedish massage as it takes an hour with consultation so that is impossible and I could possibly stretch the back massage to 15 min but that I would have to repeat the massage strokes and ensure that I go at a slower pace and also focus on areas of tension.

Just wondering whether any of you have any suggestions ? If I had an IHM qualification then that would certainly take up the 30 min!

I used to offer my services at school pamper evenings when I first qualified.
I personally would not do a treatment for less than 20mins - anything less makes it very rushed for you and the person having a treatment. You need to take into account the time it takes for the person to get undressed and dressed again plus the consulation. Depending on the client and how quick they are and there are no health issued you can end up with appx 12-14 minutes of massage. I used to do back massage, if you are out of back but still have time then massage the arms?

are you charging for this, if so how much? dont undervalue yourself
also why are you doing this? is it in the hope of getting clients? I found, as did my friend who offers reflexology that once people have had a subsidised treatement that they are loath to pay your normal charges. I charge between £7 & £10 for a 20min treatment

Thanks for your advice which has been very helpful. I suppose I am showing a bit of inexperience here. I was going to charge £5 however feel that £7 (like you mentioned) is a bit more realistic. I am doing this too asa favour for the company as they asked me and also to market myself. I will be invoicing the full amount to the company rather than individual people - they are all getting this pampering for free!

Currently my charge for a full swedish massage is £15 as in this area of Yorkshire/Humberside massage treatments range from £15 to about £25. I have not advertised on my marketing material for back treatments.

The only other thing is that I have a consultation form, however this is for the full swedish. Can you recommend what I can ask them on the mini consultation form.
