advice on-site massage chairs

Hi there, I am about to commit to the touch pro course and will need to buy a chair as I only have a table so far.
I know touch pro sells chairs, but does anyone have any advice on chairs that they would definitely buy - or definitely not buy??

I did the Touch pro course in January, it was excellent, am now getting my 100 practices done....

Anyway about chairs, my collegue and I ended up buying the Stronglite Ergo pro (from touchpro), it is a great chair, its so comfy. It was £370 and I think its worth it. We did look at the cheaper one they sellbut whenI comparedthem the ergo profelt much better to sit on and work with. In my opinion I think its best to try a chair before you buy and wouldnt buy one I hadnt used or seen.

Good luck with the course and enjoy the noodle bar ( we went there every lunchtime)

Hi,

It really depends on how much you're going to be using the chair with your business. You pay for what you get basically. I started off with a cheap chair because my main clients were for Swedish but now I find I do most of my work with the on-site so I will upgrade. Look for quality of covering, and spring loaded adjusters. Just make sure you get a 2 year guarantee. Also look at Indian head massage chairs andDON'T get a white chair - it'll be stained after 2 mins.Hope this helps.

I have an EarthLite Avilla II - its a very comfortable chairs but I have my gripes with it that mean I'm not entirely happy with it. The lock on the adjustable breastplate isn't tight enough and sometimes can slip forward a few millimeters when applying too much pressure.

My recommendation would be the Oakworks Portal Pro 3 - this is an excellent chair, having tried countless chairs on my travels this is by far the most comfortable and one I would have the confidence in using. Even for deep pressure.

Just to echo the comment above, avoid white or light colours, will look very horrible very quickly.

thanks everyone for the good advice - I hadn't thought about light colours being a problem either. It certainly pays to ask questions on this forum!!
I'm really looking forward to the touch pro course on Saturday / Sunday this week. I will wait and try out the chairs at the course. Ther have been a couple on e-bay recently - an Avila and also an Oakworks. They seem to go for around £200 - which I guess is a big saving!

Am also looking at different types of face rests as the american massage / bodywork magazines seem to be advertising a lot of different face cradles.

I am not a massage therapist butpractice theBowen Technique and have recently started studiying Emmett Technique - amazing stuff. So it will be interesting to do something different.

I really enjoyed the Touch pro course - constant work and no play - but hey, that's what you pay for. The crowd of otherstudentsthere were all great and so I'm really enthused to go out there and do the seated acupressureTouch Protaught.

By the way I bought the Stronglite after trying the other chairs on the course - it's so comfortable - but I wouldn't like to be carrying it around all the time, especially on the Tube in London!! - once was enough. Luckily I am not in a large city and can get to places by car and find parking most of the time!!
