Acupuncture CE for Massage Therapists?

I am Certifide in Massage Therapy and I was wondering if I can take a CE in Acupunture instead of having to go back to school to do Acupuncture? If I can, were can I find a class in Illinois? I am getting burnt out with all the physical work massage takes and am looking for something to do with my education that is less physical.

I don't think so. I am preety sure in most states you need a master degree to practice. But there are a couple things that come to mind that you can do are cupping,tui nan, and bamboo fusion

Acupuncture isn't a modality within the practice, so I highly doubt it would count toward your CEUs. If you need something less physically demanding that does fall within massage therapy, I'd look into lymph drainage. It's lighter work and beneficial for those who suffer from seasonal allergies.

Cranio-sacral Therapy, myofascial release, Reflexology, Reiki.. many forms of work that fall under your scope of practice that don't require as much physical effort.

Accupuncture is far too intricate and involved to be learned in a CE class. It takes years to learn properly. If this is something you are interested in, you may want to find out what the laws regarding accupunture/chinese medicine are in your state.

You might be able to do dry needling it's needles used to loosen up the muscles, mainly tigger point type stuff, no focus on the TCM side so no meridians, no TCM concerns to worry about, no idea if it's legal where you are. It seems to be such a little known of thing it's sometimes a bit under the radar as far as scope of practise or not, wikipedia gives a bit of a run down on where it is regulated/banned/not thought of but how up to date that is who knows? Where I am, lots of PTs use it, not many MTs. Those I know that do use it rave about it, but I've not bothered investigating further.
