BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Bowling Green Police have arrested two individuals after investigating an illegal massage parlor.
The investigation revealed two women working at Star Spa under suspicious conditions. Both informed officers that they were employed as massage therapists.
Despite the claims, both women could not identify the town or state in which they were located. According to authorities, one of the women reported receiving minimal compensation for her work, while the other had not been paid at all.
After the findings from the investigation, the Bowling Green City Code Compliance was called for an inspection which later determined that the business violated multiple city codes.
The spa was ordered to close immediately and the women were removed from the premises and provided with appropriate services.
37-year-old Xu Zhang and 60-year-old Mei Dianyong of Orland Park, Illinois, were arrested as a result of the investigation. BGPD found that both were operating the spa.
Zhang admitted to admitted to operating the business but claimed not to be the owner. She also told police that she and Dianyong have been charged with Promoting Human Trafficking. They both regularly commuted to the location to collect money and she was responsible for recruiting employees.
The investigation into the illegal activities at the spa is ongoing.
